The film tells the true story of Max Perkins (played by Colin Firth), an editor at Scribner publishing who discovered literary giants such as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. His latest assignment is a young Thomas Wolfe (played by Jude Law), whose manuscript he spends months editing into his masterpiece, Look Homeward, Angel.
